Ever since Jake was diagnosed with leukemia, I have felt so helpless, as I'm sure many of you have. As someone who loves Jake and Jeff and Heidi and Cole and Crew, I just want to be able to take this challenge away from them. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to make this go away. I can't cure Jake. I wish more than anything that I could. But instead, I sit here, almost 700 miles away and just think about him 24/7. I am constantly checking their blog and wishing that there was something I could do. I'm sure many of you are feeling the same way I am. Then I realized that there is something we can do. That is why we are starting a fund for Jake. As you can imagine, in this situation, there are SO many medical costs. Even with insurance, the co-pays alone can really add up. I know that we are put here on this earth as brothers and sisters to lighten each others loads and bear each others burdens. My sweet nephew and his family have been asked to bear this burden for who-knows-what reason and as their family and friends I know that we can help lighten their load. I also know that if the situation was reversed and any one of us were facing this same trial, my brother would be there in a heartbeat to help out. Jeff and Heidi should not have to be worrying about finances at a time like this. They need to focus all of their energy and strength into getting Jake better and enjoying every minute that they can as a family. A fund in Jake's name will be set up at Wells Fargo within the next day or two. You will be able to send a check directly to the Wells Fargo and it will be deposited in Jake's Fund. Purchase Life Insurance

Jeff is lucky enough that his family is insured through his job at Beneficial. However, in order for Jeff to stay on that insurance policy, he has to sell a certain amount of life insurance and as you can imagine, it has been more than a little difficult to pull himself away from his family to go sell insurance. The money goes to supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the programs and research necessary to finding a cure for this awful disease. There are also several other ways listed on that page that someone can help the Leukemia Society...marathons, donations, etc.
